WHAT AN HONOR,….
.
Earlier today and after a fantastic Sunday meal at Colombian artist Edwin Gil’s home/studio in South Phoenix, he makes a stop during our conversation and brief us about the symbology behind his art pieces, behind the meaning of color/texture/composition of each of his abdstract and his figurative art.
.
A conversation that myself ad my Gary Jackson are incredibly engaged with, and one that promoted us to ask more and more questions.
.
He makes a pause, we go for a tour to they brand new home and suspiciously, the home studio us the last stop.
.
He opens the door and before he opened it he said:

- “This is for you, I hope you like it…”
.
See, he has this new series he calls: HUMAN LANDSCAPE”, that narrates the Interactions of all humans, like trees in a landscape. Where trees are all different, all sizes, all colors, all created to co-exist, and where no mistakes are made, where all trees find their place, where all trees help each other and even talk to each other through their roost.
.
Like a landscape, where all elements of the landscape make the overall effect simply beautiful to look at and where all species cohabitate happily.
.
I stopped and smiled, then a tear, then a smile, then a rushe, when I hear that the only two other people so far and part of this series are Dolores Huerta and Jessica Alba… then, me.
.
Meeeee?
.
We connected at the begging of the year, when Nate Rhoton told me that a world known artist from my native Colombia have moved to town, and that he and his boyfriend were co-chairing one n ten annual Fresh Brunch.
.
We met, shook hands and exchanged numbers.
.
We chatted and texted about multiple things, including his first monsoon….
.
He has never ever had to experience a monsoon in his life! – He lived in Charlotte when he arrived to the US, – A place where he will be back to for few months, as he is attending and working in a commission. – The desert, our Sonoran Desert, was full of surprises for him, including, the biggest pf them all,… strength of our annual monsoon!
.
He asked me few weeks ago about a bio or more about me, so I sent him a link from interview with Mirna Pineda on La Onda 1190AM – my latest interview in Español ans here Mirna asked me questions that I have never been asked before my the media. So personal and so honest.
.
I answered them with honesty, integrity and mindful of who was hearing and why wa so important to be present and be there !
.
All those moments of my story, and my life, in life our wedding, are represented in iconographic moments in the art piece.
.
He said (about the interview): - “That’s what I needed, the story, the real YOU!”
.
Today, this afternoon, Maestro – As I like to call him, when you hear him talking you will know why. – Maestro Edwin Gil is off back to Charlotte in hopes to finish a job there, but with the hope that someone in Arizona calls him back with a job offer, so he is able to comeback and live full time in Arizona, (If you know of any, let me know), and with that, live and experience every single monsoon there is, from now on.
.
Gracias Maestro! For selecting me and my story for your art piece.
.
Honors and humbleness from someone who lives life from the heart and does things with no interest, other than help the Human Landscape shine, to shine with the brightest light!
