MONOGRAM JUDGE

I get asked frequently, what is exactly my line of work?

My answer, very simple;

  • “I do design”

If you read my bio, here on my blog, you will get familiar of how many lines of design I have had the pleasure to fulfill or work on. Well, lately, I’ve been doing media within the world of fashion and lots of design, that soon will be published.

This recent experience with a terrific blog post  by the marketing department from GE MONOGRAM gives you more insights about my work;

From designing and buidling details for the interiors of high security facilities, at American Embassies around the world, to interior design for art galleries and sophisticated residences, to extreme simple (but quite intricate) details of garments to be worn by friend or clients at party, or a gala, to style and organize fundraising events with a style or a theme, cook for my guests and friends and create a tablescape to satisfy the ambiance and the meal about to be eaten, and I have even had adventured on TV production and a media face where the design is a subject, and idea or where a concept has to be developed.

To me, design is what I do, and my line of work is simply design, and you can hire me for any of them. I am assure you, I will fulfill your needs and more!

Few weeks back, I was invited by General Electric Appliances, more specifically by their MONOGRAM division to be a guest judge of a national & international competition (included Canada) of kitchen design using the very sophisticated and elegant MONOGRAM kitchen appliances competition, by the name of “Dream Kitchen Design Contest

As the line is one that I am very fund of, I accepted to come to Chicago (one of their many showrooms in the nation) and seat on the table with other three talented interior designers & builders and go over hundreds of entries to select best of each category and of course, best of the 2015 “GE Monogram Dream Kitchen Design Contest” competition.

The show room at the Design Mart Chicago, is simply fantastic! – located on the first floor of the building with a view to the Chicago river that is simply breathtaking. Located on the first floor of the building with a view to the Chicago river that is simply !, as the windows are floor to ceiling and cover the length of every room, alloying the sun and the light, including the views of the city into the room, making you believe you are in the city, but still within the environment. A very well executed interior full of muted and soft tones. Here are some takes of the showroom, a must visit!

It was not an easy task, the judges (flown from all over the country) and myself had a long day reviewing entries and all the requirements needed to be judge, and qualified. A selection that took hours, as the analysis touched bases from strict technical kitchen design guidelines and norms to aesthetics and finishes.

We, the judges were utterly pleased with our selection and the winners!
